Responsibilities

• Define and lead the vision for world-class user experience within the world’s most advanced and usable data encryption platform. We have ‘reset the bar’ on our competition and made advanced cryptography management as simple as using an on-line banking application in many ways. Time to go to the next level and innovate beyond any customer’s expectations.
• Partner closely with product management and engineering teams to define the tools, process and innovations for the user experience team.
• Introduce new concepts to the platform, such as dedicated workspaces in which to perform types of data protection which match how users work, and the responsibilities different personas carry.
• Hold the quality bar for usability as the top leader in the company focused on ensuring all users can avoid frustration, experience delight, achieve their essential outcomes with Fortanix products.
• Mentor and lead a small but growing team of designers and researchers to develop in their profession and achieve their personal maximum impact, and win as a team.
• Meet with and learn from customers directly concerning their joys and wishes for enhancements, across developer, administrator, auditor and knowledge worker personas.
• Help form the research agenda, and intake learnings into the product development lifecycle.
• Harvest learnings and experience from Fortanix internal colleagues, and seek feedback and ideas from the likes of Sales Engineering, Technical Support and Customer Success, and DevOps

Requirements

• 10+ years of user experience as a UX professional, ideally with a B2B enterprise product suite at least some of that time, with ability to lead and build great teams
• Should be able to create “big picture” strategy, along with the ability to provide detailed specific guidance to the team and enable them to execute more effectively and deliver products on time
• Strong customer focus and a deep commitment to delivering products that create customer value and delightful experiences
• Bachelor’s degree in HCI, Industrial Design, Anthropology, Computer Science, Psychology and/or a related field is a plus . Advanced degrees preferred, but not required.
• Strong technical aptitude with excellent visual and verbal communication skills. Quick learner
• Past leadership with cloud native applications and technologies is a bonus
• Experience selecting, and implementing tools such as Adobe Creative Cloud, Figma, etc. helpful

• Background understanding best practices and methods in design thinking, decision mapping, prototyping, information architecture, end user collaboration, and basic front end technologies needed. Basic front end coding familiarity helpful.

• Self-motivated and detail-oriented, with a strong work ethic. Willing to work hard in a fast moving startup environment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to roll up one’s sleeves to get the job done, and be a great example for others
