We are currently seeking a talented and motivated Technical Writer/Business Operations Analyst to support the corporate operations team through the creation of compelling written and visual material for (1) internal capability development and (2) federal IT proposals support. The Business Operations Analyst/Writer will develop content for the corporate operations team to facilitate the roll out of new programs and initiatives to improve service delivery across the organization. This content will include presentations and white papers on best practices across Ascella’s core service areas, approaches and methods for continual business operations optimization (e.g., Project Management, Agile Development), and heavy technical software subject matter for IT proposals. This includes gathering and synthesizing technical information from Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), writing and editing original content, and contributing to internal initiative collateral or internal documents as necessary.
The ideal candidate will have familiarity with and passion for technical subjects and excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to synthesize complex information into clear and concise language.
What you will be doing
Internal Capability Development (70%)
- Developing, organizing, planning, and implementing internal business optimization strategies that help improve employees ability to execute their work
- Drafting content (e.g., management approaches, business process standards, technical documentation, etc.) for Ascella’s corporate initiatives & standards
- Working with key internal stakeholders to brainstorm content ideas in line with Ascella’s expertise and in support of various corporate initiatives
- Facilitating the communication and roll out of corporate initiatives by maintaining shared calendars, sending emails, and organizing regular meetings
- Acquiring and maintaining a detailed knowledge of Ascella’s policies, principles, and strategies, and keeping up-to-date with relevant developments
- Writing and editing procedural documentation such as user guides and manuals for internal processes
- Ensuring all internal communications are consistent
Federal IT Proposals (30%)
- Collaborating with Subject Matter Experts to gather and synthesize technical information into a compelling message that demonstrates an understanding of complex technical subjects and clear approaches to proposal requirements
- Researching new technologies or innovative technical approaches to develop a baseline understanding of these concepts and convey this information clearly using written prose
- Compiling information from multiple sources and editing the language to ensure a consistent tone and voice
- Working with the Business Development team to write, edit, and review federal government proposals and translate technical material into easily understandable text
- Proofreading and editing content for clarity, grammar, syntax, and consistency
What you need to be considered for this role (required)
- Bachelor’s Degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Technical Writing, or related field
- Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable to others in text and diagrams
- Experience organizing and presenting an approach for company initiatives
- Experience with copywriting and editing
- Experience with writing guides, manuals, templates, proposals, etc.
- Familiarity with the SDLC and software development
- Excellent written, verbal, analytical, organizational, and communication skills and a high level of attention to detail
- Excellent proofreading and editing skills
- Ability to work quickly, accurately, and collaboratively to meet deadlines with minimal supervision
- Strong proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Strategic and creative mindset
- Enthusiastic and proactive attitude with strong initiative
