About the role:

In this role you will lead and support a team of Business Development Managers responsible for the delivery of significant business wins across the Specialist Services Business.

Focusing on complex clients within key sectors including Manufacturing, Heavy Manufacturing and Chemical, the Head of Sales role will lead the identification, validation and delivery of new business in line with the commercial strategy of the business unit.

The Head of Specialist Services will work with their team to build tailored customer solutions which show operational awareness, creative flair and a pragmatic approach. They will also have a long term strategic approach to business development, including creative development strategies and an analytical approach to pipeline building. Project management is key and the ability to lead the implementation of major customer projects will be fundamental.

  • Responsible for delivery of the sales target for major new business within Specialist Services.
  • Delivery of the sales strategy in the targeting of clients in the correct sectors and with the correct need to align with the Specialist Service offer.
  • Lead and develop a high performing sales team to ensure the sales of profitable new business within regions or nationally.
  • Manage all customer data within the sales cycle via CRM ensuring the development of clear, managed information on our target customer base.
  • Build local competitor intelligence through competitor profiling.
  • Produce and present on the performance of the sales function.
  • Work in conjunction with Marketing to ensure sales campaigns are effective supporting the customer pipeline.

Requirements

Here’s what we require:

  • Experience in a Business development role selling at Corporate, Senior and C-suite levels.
  • Experience in developing/managing and implementing new business services.
  • A background in hazardous waste, FM or technical manufacturing would be a benefit.
  • Exceptional people management.
  • Strong ability to analyse, digest and respond to tender documentation.
  • Application of commercial financial principles.
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent.
  • Well-developed IT skills including MS Excel (in particular), Word & PowerPoint.

  • A strategic thinker able to lead long term business development projects.
  • A commercial leader that effortlessly communicates project benefits internally and to the client.
  • Highly organised with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Able to communicate effectively to a variety of people, with well-developed customer facing skills.
  • Very strong with presentation skills and also selling, negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Able to produce high quality written correspondence and reports.
  • Proactive with the ability to manage own workload and timelines.
  • Articulate, confident and assertive.
  • Robust and resilient while being able to absorb pressure and respond positively.
