Creative Lead for In-House Agency

Creative Lead for In-House Agency

Company details

Type of job: Remote
Country: United States
City: Denver, Colorado
Company: Ping Identity

Description of the offer

We already are working behind the scenes of many of the apps and sites you log into every day and right now we’re in the middle of some game changing products that’ll shake up our industry. To match this, we need someone who can bring innovative ideas to our branding and captain the ship for our internal design team. Our company does amazing work and we want to make sure our teams and products get the shine they deserve. If this sounds like something up your alley, you should keep reading for all the details.

Who We Are:

Even if you’ve never heard of Ping Identity, our technology is at work keeping users safe in many of the most visited sites and apps across multiple industries. We create exceptional online experiences by finding the perfect balance between protecting businesses from fraud while eliminating friction for users at the same time. And in doing so, we’re changing the way people think about identity security.

We’re headquartered in Denver, Colorado, and we have offices and employees around the globe. We serve the largest, most complex businesses worldwide, including some of the biggest brands on the planet and over half of the Fortune 100.

Who We’re Looking For:

SquareOne, the internal creative agency for Ping Identity, is looking for an ambitious, full-time Creative Lead (Design/Art Direction background) with 10+ years of design experience with agency or in-house teams including 4+ years of experience leading design and/or creative groups. In addition to well-rounded design experience, you also have a passion for innovative brand design systems and functional user experience.

You will help lead a team of seasoned Senior Designers and Art Directors as they continue to evolve and elevate Ping as a leader in the digital identity space. The role is 30% design + 70% creative direction, strategic planning, and management. We are looking for a driven leader to help usher in SquareOne’s creative influence and its position as a strategic creative hub within our company.

A Day in the Life:

Your day-to-day will be highly variable but have a consistent running theme of being the gatekeeper of the Ping Identity brand and design values as well as one of the leaders in pushing our creative output and brand voice forward.

As the head of design for Ping, you will be responsible for championing our commitment to design excellence. That means once you down your morning caffeine and flip your laptop open, you’ll be ready to provide guidance and expertise in our visual style with everyone from our marketing team to a contact from an external agency to the CEO and other corporate leadership.

In between those meetings, you’ll be the main resource and manager of our in-house design team. With them, you’ll make sure our internal Design System stays updated and relevant. You’ll also lead the design team to collaborate alongside our content, video production, and creative project management teams as Ping’s in-house creative agency, SquareOne. Every piece of content including our website, social posts, event graphics, full marketing campaigns, and more are created and/or vetted by SquareOne.

All these are just examples of some possible daily tasks, but we don’t want to just focus on how you’ll maintain the status quo. We want you to push our brand to new heights using both your expertise and experience as well as pulling inspiration from whatever creative sources excite you.

If you tell us “I think Ping can do this” then let’s figure out how.

Requirements:

  • A visual portfolio demonstrating both an understanding of the fundamentals of design and an emphasis on how great creative direction translated to quantifiable business results. (Dribbble, Behance, or other social media are acceptable)
  • Candidate should have strong typographic skills, demonstrate an understanding of visual hierarchies, the basic principles of color theory, and knowledge of grid-based design
  • A working and continuing knowledge of brand building and design strategy
  • Bachelor’s degree in design or related field, or equivalent
  • At least 10 years of creative design experience in an agency or corporate environment; B2B and technology brand experience a plus
  • Software proficiencies include:
    • Strong experience with Adobe Creative Cloud – Core software requirements are Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign plus experience with After Effects is preferred
    • Basic knowledge of Sketch or Figma, and entry-level knowledge of hand-off software (e.g. Sketch Cloud, Invision, Plant, or Zeplin)
  • Be a team player with the ability to thrive in a fluid and deadline-driven environment, while improving design standards across the board
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills including flexibility in working with internal designers, marketing managers, and external agencies remotely via Slack and Zoom
  • The skill to design graphics that make complex technology understandable and interesting to diverse audiences and various personas while facing multiple tight deadlines
  • The ability to process critique and feedback efficiently, while also being able to defend design decisions and pitch the team’s vision to corporate leadership

Our Benefits:

  • Open PTO
  • Parental Leave
  • Free Healthcare Option
  • 401(k) Match
  • Generous Holiday Schedule
  • Commuter Offset
  • Education Reimbursement
