About the role

We have worked hard to create a sophisticated set of tools to demystify finances for people from all walks of life, and improve their relationship with money.

We now need to harness the power of creativity to ensure our brand is warm, friendly and approachable – and make sure these amazing tools are used to their fullest.

You will play a crucial role in increasing engagement by creating a library of characters and illustrations to help us communicate clearly, make the complex simple and bring some much-needed charm, interest and joy to this potentially challenging topic.

Responsibilities

• Create a library of high-quality, original illustrations, that complement our new brand
• Design these illustrations with a modular system in mind – so they can be combined and used across the business
• Use a strong sense of narrative to tell stories with very simple forms
• Ensure these illustrations can be used across multiple platforms and applications
• Consider the potential of merchandising these characters in the long term – to help us take our brand to the next level

• At least two years of proven, professional experience as an illustrator, with a strong portfolio showcasing character illustration
• Experience using vector tools, such as Adobe Illustrator
• A good understanding of perspective
• A clean, simple illustration style
• An appreciation of how companies like Headspace are using illustrations to make potentially taboo subjects, like mental health, feel less daunting

Nice to have

• Knowledge of animation principles and the ability to create illustrations with animation in mind
• Familiarity with graphic design, UX/UI principles, and an understanding of how illustrations can enhance user experiences
• Experience working in start-ups and scale-ups
• A passion for using your skills to make great products that have a positive impact
