Description of the offer

As a Lead PHP Engineer you head up the Engineering part of a cross-functional service-oriented team, working on extending and maintaining our Affiliate Marketing platform.

Key Tasks

  • Day-to-day management of the engineering part of a service team (3-5 engineers)
  • Quarterly check-ins with team members, preparation and tracking of individual development plans / goals
  • Coaching and mentoring of team members through regular 1:1s
  • Coordination with other teams/services and departments within P&T (e.g. Systems Engineering, IT Operations)
  • Taking ownership of all stages of the software delivery life cycle to deliver, maintain and operate solutions
  • Responsible for technical approaches with the support of architecture and within the governance frameworks
  • Lead decisions, facilitate discussions within the team, conflict resolution where necessary
  • Foster a self-organising and autonomous agile team, use delegation where necessary and appropriate
  • Maintain and operate the services owned by the team and rectify issues in production
  • Design, plan and lead development of high-quality, innovative, maintainable and clean software components (including features, performance, testing, documentation, etc.) in various languages and for various applications
  • Establish specifications / standards and use these to design, code, test and document components of any complexity
  • Set or follow best-practice guidelines and processes and continuously improve those
  • Conduct or receive code review, pair programming where applicable
  • Active role in the hiring process through e.g. screening CVs, taking part in interviews
  • Facilitating and conducting research of new technologies, proof of concepts
  • Approving absence requests
  • Facilitating professional team development through channelling / assessing requests for training, conferences etc.
  • Facilitates and contribute to knowledge sharing in the team
  • Drive change through the teams where necessary
  • Balancing effort vs. outcome to find pragmatic solutions with a focus on economic viability

Skills & Expertise

  • At least 7 years of commercial Software Engineering experience
  • Experience with PHP
  • Experience working with Symfony
  • You have a positive attitude, and an energetic presentation
