Engineer – Entry Level

VCS Engineering is looking for a junior level Engineer I who is looking to accelerate their career growth by taking on more responsibility in an expanding and rewarding field of reinforced concrete infrastructure. This position would support our mission of extending the service life of existing and new structures. VCS works on bridges, dams, ports, parking structures, tunnels, pipelines and more throughout North America.

Utilizing the most modern tools and techniques, our engineers and technicians perform on-site evaluations and develop a sound understanding of the cause and extent of reinforced concrete deterioration. Once we define the durability challenges facing structures, our experience allows us to implement practical, cost-effective repair and rehabilitation solutions, even in the most severe environments.

The engineer who is looking to take on this role in the first year would expect to gain significant training and experience regarding business development, project pursuits, project management, and extensive technical training regarding advanced VCS technologies. The objective would be to set this junior engineer onto a fast track for a management position within our organization. We are looking for an eager engineer who wants to have a bright future as a leader in the industry of civil infrastructure evaluation and rehabilitation.

Please note. You must live in any of the following cities. Winnipeg, Vancouver or Toronto. Relocation will be considered for the right candidate. You also must be legally entitled to work in Canada first before we can consider your application.

Responsibilities

• Condition assessments/investigations of civil infrastructure
• Non-destructive testing of civil infrastructure
• Geophysical testing of civil infrastructure
• Install and troubleshoot instrumentation, prepare test reports, conduct research activities, and generally support other Engineers and Project Managers as required
• Work with a team of technicians in the field to conduct testing and data collection
• Implement non-destructive testing techniques such as ground penetrating radar, impact echo, corrosion potential and many others
• Collect field measurements and accurately prepare field notes and other documentation
• Develop a professional report regarding work performed and conclusions that meet our quality standards and Client’s expectations.

• Travel is an important aspect of VCS work. Travel is to be expected between 60%-80% of the time within Canada
• Canadian Bachelor degree in Civil or Structural (Must have one or the other)
• Experience in the following areas is preferred:
  • Structural analysis of existing structures
  • Condition assessment of reinforced concrete structures
  • Concrete repair technologies and techniques
  • Geophysical test methods
  • AutoCAD
  • Non-Destructive testing of civil infrastructure
• Comfortable with public speaking at technical events
• VCS s a drug and alcohol-free workplace, any candidates selected for employment will be required to pass a drug screen.
• Must live in Winnipeg, Vancouver or Toronto.
