Product Manager

Product Manager

Company details

Type of job: Remote
Country: England
City: Leeds
Company: Little Journey

Description of the offer

Little Journey currently has a successful product in the healthcare space. We are now starting to explore the life science space, in particular paediatric treatments and clinical trials, and have several live projects with large-midsized pharmaceutical companies. We are looking to establish our value proposition in this space and obtain product market fit.

This position is Leeds based (hybrid) or remote in the UK. It might include occasional (inter)national travel.

The role

This role works closely with our Lead Product Manager, building out what our product should be in the life science space, both as a family B2C app and a B2B portal to manage the functionality within the B2C app. It involves being the product voice in our current and future life science projects working with the Project Manager and Delivery Lead, as well as squad including Design, Research, Content and Engineering. You will also have access to our in-house expertise in Clinical Psychology and Play.

You ensure that our life sciences products keep our customers happy by hitting our deliverables as well as solving real problems and having a positive impact on end users. You will also ensure that our development aligns with our product vision for life science, is re-usable for future projects and gives us valuable data points to inform our strategy.

You will be comfortable

  • representing Product at Little Journey on calls with corporate customers including leading in person / remote workshops.
  • taking a hypothesis-driven approach to discovery for new products and/or features
  • Speaking up internally if you feel something needs clarification or to flag potential risks to a client project with a suggested approach to mitigate.
  • managing a high performing squad to hit customer deadlines whilst still employing Little Journey’s iterative Discovery and Delivery approach.

The expectation is that as we define our Value Proposition in this space, the role will gradually become less project based, and more of a traditional Senior Product Manager role with full ownership of all aspects of the core Life Science Product including the product vision, strategy and roadmap, balancing user needs, business goals and technical feasibility.

Measuring success

  • Immediately: You will get to know the team and both current and future life science projects in detail. As soon as you are comfortable you will be introduced to clients and start picking up the product work for these projects with support from the Lead PM.
  • 6 months: Your squad is running smoothly, there is an effective collaboration in place between Product Management, Design, Engineering, User Research and Content. We are on track for the current projects we have live and prepped for the ones in the pipeline. You are collaborating with the Lead PM on defining our value proposition in this space including our core offering and menu of configurable features.
  • 12 months: We have established our core offering in the Life Science space, which is being employed in all current projects, which are on all track the deliver on time, spec and budget. These projects are being managed mostly by Project Managers with your oversight from a Product perspective. You are spending more time leading a squad building out the roadmap for building on the core Life Science Offering with a menu of configurable features.

Requirements

Skills needed

Non-negotiable:

  • Experience leading a product with a B2B or B2B2C space, ideally having been exposed to large corporate customers and long-term product projects with these customers. If you have this experience while working for a high-growth start-up this is a bonus.
  • Proven ability to get design, engineering, commercial, delivery and other departments on the same page and delivering to deadlines
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, creative environment, doing a lot with limited resources.
  • Experience successfully launching new products or feature sets.

Desirable, but we can support:

  • Prior experience developing products for children
  • Knowledge of the healthcare and/or life science sector
  • Experience bringing a new product to market

Behaviours and values needed

  • Passionate – you love what Little Journey offers, and you always put the patient first
  • Curious and data driven – you never stop questioning and you test every hypothesis
  • Resilient – you keep going when things get tough and when stakeholders need more alignment
  • Integrity – Good moral judgement, you always follow through on your word, your team will trust you and vice versa

Benefits

  • 28 days annual leave pro-rata (plus public holidays)
  • £500 annual training budget
  • £200 home working budget
  • £50 wellness budget
  • Flexible working with core hours
  • 6% pension match
  • Enhanced parental leave policies
  • Friendly and collaborative team who value and respect each other

About Little Journey

Little Journey was founded in 2018 by Dr Chris Evans and Sophie Copley. As an anaesthetic doctor and father himself, Chris witnessed first-hand the distress experienced by children and families coming to hospital for surgery. Partnering with Sophie, an expert in human-centred product design, they created a prototype version of the Little Journey app to support children undergoing elective surgery.

Since then, the business has accelerated quickly, having been adopted in more than 100 healthcare organisations worldwide. We also partner with leading organisations such as LEGO and top tier pharmaceutical companies. They provide us global access to paediatric services and clinical research, helping us reach more children. We received investment from internationally leading VC funds and are using this to scale further into other markets. Our technology is already available in 16 languages and counting!

Our teams are grouped into Product, Technology, Delivery, Operations, Commercial and Science departments, and we are hiring talent across all these functions to help us achieve our mission.

We encourage people from all walks of life to apply and strive to eliminate unconscious bias in our recruitment process. We do not discriminate on ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, veteran or parental status or disability.
